The covid 19 pandemic and the impact it created was unprecedented. Many lives were lost businesses’ were shut down complete destruction of normal life became a reality. One of the most effected during the pandemic were the student community. The closure of schools and the shift towards online learning were huge changes. Social scientists, educationists and other experts are still pondering over the impact of these changes for students and children. Studies have shown that the increase in screen time has created discernable health and mental issues. One impact has been the rise in phone usage among students which lead to game addictions, rise in stress level ,increased incidents of tantrums etc.
The economic losses caused by covid 19 has also impacted students gravely. The financial insecurities imposed over families created considerable strain over children. A graver situation ensued for families who lost their bread winner to covid 19.
The government and the Department of Health and Family Welfare are doing everything possible to protect the public in response to this crisis. Despite these resolute efforts, there is still much more to do before everyone can feel safe once again especially those little ones who have lost their parents and loved ones. The least of all we can do now is to unite in this time of darkness.
